My 60th Post (This One’s Special)

I promised a lot of you that I would share more of my own music soon, and I thought there was no better time than now, my 60th post, to give you a taste of what I do.

I sing RnB (lots of Beyonce & Etta James on my iPod), and I have from a very young age.

From the time I was thirteen or fourteen and began actually competing and showcasing my voice, people have persuaded me to pursue other genres that fit my “appearance” like country. I could however, never leave behind my soulful roots comprised of the music from my childhood.

When I sing a song, I feel it. I need the emotion, the grit, the pain, the depth, to be there in every word or I feel as though I convey believability to the audience, and that for me is the most important thing.

During college and even still, I really began finding my sound; one that held true to the RnB power and soul, but incorporated the contemporary nuances that I believe make me more relatable to listeners today rather than those in 1953.

With the help of some very important people in my life, I would say I am just now comfortable with the RnB-Alternative-Bluesy genre I represent, and I hope that for the big 60, you all will enjoy a piece of me that I’ve been reluctant to share.

All you have to do in return for watching is make someone smile today (or tomorrow, because it’s kind of late, and your dog doesn’t count).

On a scale of 1 to Well Worth It... What did you think?
