All roads lead to Nashville. At least, that’s what it feels like recently with the influx of *“transplants” and tourism at an all-time-high.

Whether Nashville is your new home, or you’re just visiting for a family vacation or bachelorette party, your time here won’t be complete without taking on The Escape Game at either the downtown (3rd Ave. North) or East Iris Drive Location.

The Escape Game will most likely be exactly what you think when you first enter the room, but it will soon explode with secrets and puzzles and things you never would have expected. That’s what makes it so much fun for people of all ages, while you should keep in mind games are advised for 12 and up and any player under 14 must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Working with The Escape Game team to set up this review was much easier than actually escaping. They were prompt with their responses and even set up our tickets for us, allowing us to choose between a few of their featured games at the East Iris Drive location.

In honor of this Nashville-themed website and review, we chose the Nashville Escape Game…

“WELCOME TO MUSIC CITY!

You and your team are an up-and-coming band who want to make it big in the music industry. Recently, you heard a rumor that world renowned producer Rick Teggen hid a contract in his studio before he retired. Legend has it that if you’re the band that finds the contract, he will come back to produce one last record, guaranteed to make you famous. You’re a guest in the studio, so you only have 60 minutes…Good Luck!”

Since it was just the two of us, the Escape Game paired us with an awesome group of four; every room has a limit of how many players can/should be in there based on the difficulty level. If you’re going with a larger group, chances are you’ll have the whole room to yourselves, but even if you don’t, it makes the experience a lot more interesting. While you start out as strangers, you find yourselves quickly working together to achieve the one common goal and it’s so rewarding with each piece you solve!

You start out with a game guide who first explains the general rules that apply to every room. Don’t climb on things, don’t pull certain things off the wall, you know, the rules of life when you’re not in your own home. When that’s out of the way, you’re introduced to your mission and given game-specific guidelines. This is when you’ll find yourself glancing around the room already looking for clues because the adrenaline kicks in. Shouts to our game guide, David who watched us do some things really well and occasionally make fools of ourselves, giving hints when we asked for them.

While I can’t talk details, I can say that with only five minutes (out of a total hour) left on the clock, WE ESCAPED! It is such a rewarding feeling when you’re free from the room, sticker in hand. You always assume you won’t be as excited as you actually are, but I promise… you will be.

Side effects include: thinking you need to escape from every room you enter post-game, believing every text you get is an encrypted code, searching for hidden compartments in all bookshelves and hardwood floors and of course, wanting to tell everyone about your success.

It’s now become a personal goal of mine to escape from every room. I’m officially hooked and I think you will be too!

*Transplants: people from another city/state that move to Nashville because, well, it’s cool with good food and even better music.
