If there is one thing our girl knows how to do, it’s make life a little more fancy. 🎀

For her fourth birthday, we leaned all the way into one of her favorite characters with Fancy Four: An Ooh La La Celebration, a Fancy Nancy-themed birthday party filled with bows, balloons, charms, pink, purple, sparkle and, of course, plenty of opportunities for everyone to get fancy.

I’ve always loved planning our girl’s birthday parties around whatever she loves most at that particular age. Their interests change so quickly when they’re little, and there’s something really special about getting to capture this tiny snapshot of who they are right now.

And right now? Our girl loves all things fancy.

So naturally, we had to make four extraordinaire.

A Fancy Nancy Birthday Party Fit for a Four-Year-Old

From the beginning, I didn’t want this to just be a Fancy Nancy-themed room. I wanted the entire party to feel like an experience for our little one and her friends. This was her first “friend-filled” birthday with friends from school and sports, unlike years past, so we wanted to make it extra special for everyone!

Our guests arrived ready to get fancy and kicked things off at the Fancy Salon, complete with nails and hair tinsel and hair tinsel; while they got ready, they could decorate hairbrushes with gems or make charm bracelets that each became a part of their party favors.

And then came the biggest surprise of all.

Fancy Nancy herself arrived.

Watching our girl realize Fancy Nancy had actually come to her birthday party was easily one of my favorite moments of the entire day.

The whole celebration felt whimsical, colorful and wonderfully over-the-top, which is exactly what a Fancy Nancy party should be.

And there’s no way we could have brought it all together without an incredible group of local vendors.

Event Space + Party Orchestration: KaySavVi Glam

KaySavVi Glam was the perfect home for our Fancy Four celebration and played such a huge role in bringing the entire day together.

This party had a lot more happening than simply food, cake and presents. We had crafts, a tea party, a character appearance with songs and story time, a charm bar and dancing, so having someone (and their incredible staff) helping orchestrate the flow of the celebration made such a difference.

Everything transitioned naturally, and instead of spending the entire party watching the clock and figuring out what needed to happen next, I could actually experience it alongside our girl. This was my first birthday of our girl’s where I felt like I could actually relax and have fun alongside her. I wouldn’t trade that for anything in the world!

As someone who loves planning all the little details but also wants to actually enjoy the day once it arrives, that was huge for me.

Balloons: Twisted Roots

The balloons from Twisted Roots completely transformed the space.

We wanted the party to feel colorful and whimsical without every single element screaming “character party,” and the balloons helped establish that look beautifully. The colors tied everything together and gave us that big visual moment as soon as guests walked into the room. When our girl was looking at Pinterest photos over my shoulder, she saw balloons on the ceiling from a Fancy Nancy party somewhere across the U.S. and it became her biggest want. The team at Twisted Roots brought that to life and then some!

They also created the perfect backdrop for photos throughout the party, which is something I always think about when planning decor. When you look back at the pictures years from now, those bigger design elements become such a huge part of how you remember the day.

Charm Bar: Sweet Belle & Beau

Our charm bar from Sweet Belle & Beau was easily one of my favorite details.

Four is such a fun age because kids are really starting to develop their own little styles and opinions, so getting to make them each something completely unique felt perfect for this group.

I also loved that the activity doubled as a party favor.

It was interactive, personal and, most importantly for a Fancy Nancy party, very fancy.

Fancy Nancy Character Appearance: KN Dance Entertainment // Enchanted Mini Theater

If there was one moment that completely brought the theme to life, this was it.

Our Fancy Nancy character appearance through KN Dance Entertainment and Enchanted Mini Theater was pure magic.

There is something so special about this age when kids still completely believe in the magic of seeing a favorite character walk into the room. Watching our little one’s face when she realized Fancy Nancy had arrived at her party is something I’ll never forget.

The character appearance gave the kids another experience rather than simply another thing to look at, and it made the entire celebration feel that much more immersive.

If your little one has a character they absolutely adore, this is one of those birthday splurges that feels especially magical while they’re still at an age to fully embrace it.

Hand-Painted Banner: Painted by Grace

One of my favorite things about planning parties is mixing larger decor moments with small, handmade details, and our banner from Painted by Grace was exactly that.

The hand-painted style fit the whimsical feel of the party perfectly and gave us something completely custom for our Fancy Four theme.

I also love choosing a few party details that can live beyond the actual celebration. Something handmade can be tucked away in a memory box and pulled out years later (it’s currently hanging in our playroom).

Those are always some of my favorite pieces.

Fancy Tea Party Food: Reinventing Tea Time

Obviously, you can’t throw an Ooh La La Celebration without a proper tea party.

Jane’s Tea House helped us turn lunchtime into another part of the experience instead of simply stopping the party to eat.

The food fit so naturally into the theme and made our Fancy Tea Party feel like its own little event within the celebration. Seeing a table full of four-year-olds dressed in their fanciest outfits sitting down together for a tea party was every bit as adorable as you would imagine.

I especially loved that the food became another way to carry the theme through the day. Those little details are what take a party from having themed decorations to feeling like one complete experience.

Our Fancy Four

Every year when I plan one of these parties, I’m reminded these parties are a way to preserve this version of her.

The things she loves. The characters she talks about. The way she dances. The excitement over getting her nails done or choosing the perfect charm for a bracelet. The look on her face when someone she has only ever seen in a book or on a screen suddenly walks through the door.

At four, our girl is imaginative, funny, independent and wonderfully sure of what she likes. And right now, she happens to think life is better with a little extra sparkle.

So we put on the bows.

We added the jewels.

We made bracelets, had a tea party and celebrated our girl exactly as she is right now.

Because next year, she’ll love something different.

But this year?

She was Fancy Four. 🎀✨

And it was absolutely extraordinaire.
