Well, here it is. The last lunch time listen of 2014! While I haven’t been able to post one of these in a while, the quality should outweigh the quantity. I recently splurged on a premium Spotify membership (and by splurge I mean I took advantage of their .99 cents a month deal for the next three months). I’ve been so happy with the service, and I have to say that the “discover” tab generates the perfect listening suggestions based on my preferences.
The other day I was scrolling through my “discover” feed and came across an artists that the great powers of Spotify suggested I give a listen to – Sara Phillips. Phillips a singer/songwriter from Montreal, Canada who’s self-titled EP is full of gems.
My personal favorite after listening to the entire EP at least three times is a track entitled “Home.” Backed by a simplistic piano melody, and rhythmic percussion, Sara’s voice pierces the instrumental with poetic lyrics and a hook that will be stuck in your head for at least two days straight (sorry about that one).
This is the perfect reflective song for the new year.
With that I leave you with a YouTube link and very happy wishes for the New Year to come!
