Hey beautiful people! I’m back with another Birchbox review and I have to say there’s always things I love in these little packages of joy every month and never things that I really don’t, which is pretty amazing. I’m not sure if they really stick to your initial preferences, or if I’m just easy to please, but either way I’ll take it!
If you don’t have time to read my full post, I’ll understand (I guess) and you can scroll over the above images for my out-of-ten rating. But then… won’t you be so curious as to why only one product got a 10/10 – I know I would be!
Starting with Living proof.® No Frizz Conditioner. I’m not sure what else to say but AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME! I think we all deal with a little frizz in the Summer, at the same time, not wanting to spend extra time loading our locks down with styling creams and overwhelming our hair with heat products. I found that using this in combination with the shampoo allowed me to really just wash, towel-dry and go! My hair stayed sleek and shiny while still feeling super clean.
My friends at Birchbox must really care, because they even threw in the Living proof.® No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream for an extra layer of frizz protection and the sample sizes of this entire product line were so generous. To top it all off, they smelt great and were super light-weight.
Klorane Smoothing and Relaxing Patches with Soothing Cornflower are the bees knees. I’ve always chalked it up to the Italian in me, but when I’m even a little sleepy, my dark circles come out to play and they’re on a mission to let the world know. I used these patches after my shower one night when I was exhausted and had them on for 20 minutes while I did some yoga. I “tapped” them periodically like the packaging suggests and when I peeled them off, they were so gentle and left my eyes looking more refreshed than maybe ever! Lasting all the way through the next day. I will definitely be purchasing as many of these as I can. Maybe it’s the cornflower? Either way, I want a whole lot of it in my life.
I have to say, Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big Volumizing Mascara is really nothing new. To me, it just seems like an over-priced Revlon product. There’s nothing wrong with it. No clumps and it curls a bit when you apply it, but it definitely doesn’t volumize and extend like is advertised. It’s also IMPOSSIBLE to get off. I normally never buy waterproof mascara because I hate pulling out my eyelashes just trying to clean them and this is even worse. Not a bad mascara, just not my cup of tea.
Milk Makeup Sunshine Oil is confusing. I love the idea of it. I love the smell. I even love the application, but I’m pretty sure it’s the reason my face broke out like it never has before. I was using it in areas you would normally highlight on the face and then applying a tinted moisturizer that helped me distribute it more evenly and it was refreshing and felt great, but almost instantly I started getting little bumps under my skin that were like pimples but you couldn’t pop them (gross, I know, but we’ve all been there). I think because I already have combination skin, this product was just too much. I’ve read other reviews about it being bad for normal skin types, so I think this just all depends on where you fall into the skin-type category.
dr. brandt® PoreDermabrasion: I’ve already reviewed this product when I received it in my June Birch Box, but if you read about it there, you’ll know why I was super happy they messed up and gave it to me again in July!
